As part of its transition to becoming Audi’s factory Formula 1 team in 2026, Sauber is establishing a new engineering hub in the United Kingdom. This strategic move aims to strengthen the team’s presence in the UK’s “Motorsport Valley” and attract top-tier engineering talent.
While Sauber’s headquarters will remain in Hinwil, Switzerland, and its power unit operations will continue in Neuburg, Germany, the new UK facility will serve as an additional base. Potential locations under consideration include Bicester, Silverstone, and Milton Keynes, with plans to open the hub by summer 2025.
By establishing a presence in the UK’s Motorsport Valley, Sauber aims to tap into the region’s extensive motorsport expertise and talent pool. This initiative is expected to enhance the team’s technical capabilities as it prepares for Audi’s full takeover in 2026.
The move also reflects a broader trend in Formula 1, where teams operate across multiple countries to leverage regional strengths. For instance, Haas F1 Team maintains its corporate headquarters in the United States, a main facility in the UK, and a design office in Italy. Similarly, Sauber/Audi will have operations in Switzerland, Germany, and now the UK.
This expansion underscores Sauber’s commitment to building a competitive foundation for Audi’s entry into Formula 1, aiming to attract and collaborate with top engineering talent from the heart of the motorsport industry.
