Richard Wood Appointed as Liam Lawson’s Race Engineer for 2025 F1 Season

Red Bull Racing has announced the promotion of Richard Wood to the position of race engineer for their new Formula 1 driver, Liam Lawson, for the 2025 season. Wood previously served as the performance engineer for Sergio Perez and has been a long-term member of the Red Bull team.

Throughout the 2024 season, Wood gained valuable experience on the Red Bull pit wall, stepping in during instances when Perez’s regular race engineer, Hugh Bird, was on paternity leave. His roles within the team have included positions in strategy, race support, and simulator engineering, culminating in his current trackside responsibilities.

Liam Lawson, a 22-year-old driver from New Zealand, has been promoted to Red Bull’s main team after showcasing impressive performances in the latter part of the 2024 season. His collaboration with Wood is anticipated to be instrumental in his development and success in the upcoming season.

This strategic appointment underscores Red Bull’s commitment to leveraging internal talent and fostering strong driver-engineer partnerships to maintain their competitive edge in Formula 1.
